Tree Care
Tree removals are often frowned upon these days however with droughts becoming more and more popular over the past years along with multiple insects moving in such as Emerald Ash Borer (E.A.B.), Eastern Larch Beatle and Spongy Moth (also formerly known as the Gypsy Moth) and the rapid spread of diseases such as Dutch Elm (D.E.D.), Oak Wilt and Heterobasidion root disease (just to name a few). Not to mention storm damage and rot, tree removals are often not only needed but required to not only help maintain a healthy balance within our forests and neighborhoods but to help prevent the loss of property and/ or life of any type.
While we often hear “Tree Trimming is a waste of money” and “that Tree Trimming is not needed”. We assure you that it is in-fact required if you’d like to get as many years out of your beautiful arboreal giants as possible. We often ask people to think about trimming their trees like getting a hair cut. Sure you don’t need to do it all of the time but if you don’t ever do it how long will it be before your long hair really, really becomes a problem and gets stuck in something, blows in your eyes, gets tangled or just flat out doesn’t look good? Probably a few years right? Well the same goes for your trees. A good rule of thumb is every 3-5 years your mature trees should be properly trimmed to get the most time possible out of them. Un-trimmed trees can pose many risks such as thick canopies (not allowing the wind to pass through acting like a kite when the wind blows), heavy branches (gathering emits snow load), Rot and others. None of these are things you want to deal with.
Pruning is a very important practice for the overall health and success of your trees. When pruning it is important to know a few things such as how to properly prune that specific type of tree, what time of year to do it, what type of tool to use, etc. Pruning trees is especially important after a branch is damaged and/or broken due to a storm of some sort and/ or excessive snow load during the winter months. Proper pruning techniques, such as crown reduction and deadwood removal, help restore the tree’s structural integrity and stimulate new growth.
Many of our clients choose to do different things with the bases of their trees after we remove them or someone else did in the past. Some have kept them a certain height to sit on, use as a table or sculpt while others choose to have their stumps ground out. While there is no right or wrong answer on what to do and we have worked with our past clients on all of the above over the years the most common practice we get requests for are the stumps to be ground out entirely. Typically the clients choose this option so that they are able to have us re-plant a tree, install sod, create a new landscape bed or just so they don’t trip over it.

Landscaping
Planting is a fundamental aspect of landscaping that transforms outdoor spaces into vibrant and inviting environments. Whether installing new trees, shrubs, flowers, or other greenery, proper planting techniques are essential for ensuring optimal growth and long-term health. By selecting appropriate plant species for the local climate and soil conditions and implementing correct planting depths and spacing, landscapers create visually appealing landscapes that thrive with minimal maintenance. Additionally, strategic placement of plants can enhance curb appeal, provide privacy, and create functional outdoor living areas, contributing to a harmonious and enjoyable outdoor experience for homeowners.
Fire pits are versatile landscaping features that add warmth, ambiance, and functionality to outdoor living spaces. Proper installation of a fire pit involves careful consideration of location, materials, and safety measures. Landscapers choose suitable fire pit designs, such as built-in or portable options, and ensure proper ventilation and clearance from surrounding structures. Additionally, they may incorporate seating elements and hardscaping features to create a cohesive and inviting outdoor entertainment area. With attention to detail and adherence to safety standards, landscaping professionals craft fire pits that become focal points for gatherings, relaxation, and enjoyment year-round.
Outdoor kitchens and lighting are vital for maximizing outdoor living spaces. Professional installation ensures functionality and safety. Kitchens feature carefully chosen materials and appliances, while lighting highlights key areas and creates ambiance, enhancing both enjoyment and property value.
Retaining walls are essential in landscaping to manage soil erosion and create level spaces. Professional installation ensures structural integrity and aesthetic appeal. By selecting suitable materials and proper drainage, landscapers create durable walls that enhance both functionality and visual appeal in outdoor spaces.
Paver driveways, patios, and walkways are key elements in landscaping, providing durability, aesthetics, and functionality. Professional installation ensures proper leveling, drainage, and interlocking of pavers to create a stable surface that withstands heavy use and weathering. Careful selection of paver materials and patterns enhances the overall design and complements the surrounding landscape. With expert installation, these features not only add curb appeal but also extend outdoor living spaces for relaxation and entertainment.
Grading is a foundational aspect of landscaping, involving the shaping and leveling of the land to optimize drainage and create a stable foundation for construction and planting. Professional grading ensures proper slope and contouring to direct water away from structures and prevent erosion. By carefully assessing the site and implementing appropriate grading techniques, landscapers create a functional and aesthetically pleasing landscape that promotes healthy plant growth and minimizes the risk of water damage.
Seeding and sodding are essential methods for establishing healthy and lush lawns. Professional seeding involves selecting appropriate grass varieties, preparing the soil, and evenly distributing seeds for optimal germination. Sodding, on the other hand, involves laying pre-grown grass turf for an instant lawn. Both methods require proper soil preparation, watering, and ongoing maintenance to ensure successful establishment. With expert care and attention to detail, landscapers create beautiful and resilient lawns that enhance the beauty and functionality of outdoor spaces.

Fertilization and weed control are vital aspects of lawn care services, ensuring healthy growth, lush appearance, and weed suppression in the lawn. Fertilization provides essential nutrients for robust plant development, while weed control measures prevent invasive plants from competing with grass, maintaining the lawn’s integrity and aesthetic appeal. Together, these practices contribute to a vibrant, weed-free lawn that enhances the overall beauty and value of the property.
Spring and fall cleanups are crucial for maintaining a healthy and attractive landscape. These services involve removing debris, dead leaves, and other organic matter that can smother grass and harbor pests. By clearing the landscape during these transitional seasons, homeowners ensure optimal growing conditions for plants and prevent potential issues such as mold, disease, and insect infestations, promoting a vibrant and thriving outdoor environment.
Shrub trimming is an essential part of landscape maintenance that promotes healthy growth and enhances the aesthetic appeal of outdoor spaces. By carefully pruning shrubs in spring and fall, homeowners can remove dead or overgrown branches, encourage new growth, and maintain desired shapes and sizes. This practice not only improves the overall appearance of the landscape but also ensures proper air circulation and sunlight exposure, reducing the risk of disease and promoting the longevity of shrubs.
Aeration is a crucial practice in lawn care that involves perforating the soil with small holes to allow air, water, and nutrients to penetrate deep into the root zone. Typically conducted in the spring or fall, aeration helps alleviate soil compaction, improves root development, and promotes lush, healthy turf growth. By enhancing soil structure and nutrient uptake, aeration ensures a vibrant and resilient lawn, reducing the need for excessive watering and fertilization while mitigating issues like thatch buildup and soil erosion.

Landscapers employ proper techniques to minimize strain and injury while efficiently removing snow, enhancing safety and convenience for homeowners. With prompt and reliable service, professional shoveling ensures peace of mind and smooth navigation in snowy conditions.
De-icing is essential for preventing ice accumulation and minimizing slip-and-fall accidents during winter. Professional de-icing involves the application of salt, sand, or other ice-melting agents to surfaces such as driveways, walkways, and parking lots. Landscapers utilize appropriate equipment and techniques to evenly distribute de-icing agents while minimizing environmental impact. By effectively melting ice and preventing refreezing, professional de-icing services ensure safe and accessible outdoor spaces, even in inclement weather conditions.
